Ibb - Saba:

The deputy minister of Administration, Local and Rural Development, Mansour al-Lakomi, along with the Assistant Commander of the Fourth Military Region, Brigadier General Saleh Hajeb, on Thursday reviewed the projects implemented and being implemented by the Central Emergency Development Interventions Unit in Dhi As-Sufal District in Ibb Governorate.

The Undersecretary al-Lakomi and Brigadier General Hajeb inspected the community initiative projects supported by the Interventions Unit with cement and diesel materials in al-Habla District, represented in paving the road linking al-Habla and al-Thoman, paving the Thoman - al-Aridah Road, and al-Habla and al-Ansiyin Road.

They also reviewed the progress of work on the project to add six classrooms to Saad bin Abi Waqqas School in al-Habla District, funded by the Social Fund for Development, as well as the project to pave the al-Zaghrour Pass leading to the school.

They listened from the community committee to an explanation of the efforts made to provide stones and sand at the project site and its needs for support with cement to start work.

The visit also included the al-Ja'ashin Bridge project, part of which was implemented as a community initiative and with the support of the local authority during the past years.

They heard from the director of the directorate, Abdulrahman Wajih al-Din, the reasons for the project's failure, which is the inability of the local authority to complete its contribution to the project. He indicated that the Hayel Saeed Company had previously undertaken to provide quantities of iron, while the project needs cement from the Central Emergency Development Interventions Unit to complete it.

Al-Lakoumi and Hajeb also reviewed the support required for the project to pave and expand the al-Arsh Road linking the directorates of Dhi As-Sufal and Madhikharah, part of which was implemented by the community and was stalled due to the inability of the residents to complete it.

They also visited the al-Khanab Road survey and expansion project in the al-Ansiyin district, which is scheduled to begin work in the coming weeks by the Public Works Project with support from the Kuwait Fund.

In addition, al-Lakoumi and Hajeb discussed with a number of dignitaries and residents of Habeer district, in the presence of the director of the district, representatives of the Central Emergency Development Interventions Unit, and the Binian Development Foundation, aspects related to activating the multi-purpose agricultural cooperative association in the district to carry out its development role as required.

During the meeting, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Administration, Local and Rural Development pointed out the importance of the association's role in coordinating with government agencies funding projects, promoting the economic and social aspect, and providing a market for goods that will be produced by either the community or the association.

For his part, the Assistant Commander of the Military Region addressed the coordination mechanism between the association and the relevant authorities such as the Central Emergency Development Interventions Unit, the Agricultural and Fisheries Projects Financing Unit, the General Authority for Zakat, and other entities supporting associations.

He pointed out the importance of the role played by the Central Emergency Development Interventions Unit at the Ministry of Administration, Local and Rural Development in the success of community initiatives in the Directorate of Dhi As-Sufal and other directorates of the governorate.

While the coordinator of the Binyan Foundation, Ali Qasha, spoke about the mechanism of work of the multi-purpose agricultural cooperative association in the directorate, and its positive impact on community development and contributing to achieving self-sufficiency.. pointing out the importance of combining everyone's efforts to advance development and economic aspects.

He explained that the association's tasks include adopting projects financed by loans from several parties, indicating that the association will gain great confidence because it is linked to the state and society.

The General Mobilization Officer in Dhi As-Sufal Directorate, Abu Taha al-Dhamdi, pointed out the importance of the role of the Multi-Purpose Agricultural Cooperative Association, calling for effective contribution to the association that will benefit all the people of the directorate.

He noted the efforts of the Interventions Unit and its support for community initiatives with cement and diesel, and motivating the community to adopt more initiative projects.

The Supervision and Follow-up Officer in the Interventions Unit in the governorate, Engineer Issa al-Qadri, addressed the coordination and cooperation mechanism between the Interventions Unit and the Agricultural Association in the directorate.

For their part, a number of dignitaries and residents reviewed the resources available in the region and the type of crops they grow, the most important of which are coffee, grains and potatoes, in addition to the availability of a suitable environment for beekeeping.

They pointed out the most prominent difficulties facing the people of the Habeer area, including the scarcity of water as a result of the withdrawal of isolation water to the water projects of the Taiziyah Directorate in Taiz Governorate for years.

In a related context, the Undersecretary of the Council and Brigadier General Hajeb discussed with the Director of the Directorate and the leaders of the executive offices, the conditions of the Directorate and the relationship between the executive offices and the Agricultural Cooperative Society and the role of the Director of the Directorate in this regard, in addition to the efforts required from the local authority and the preparatory committee to establish the association to be announced within the next two weeks.
