Hodeida - Saba:
A meeting was held at Hodeida province's office of economy, industry, and investment to discuss strategies for localizing the carton industry and halting imports of this locally produced material.
The meeting reviewed directives from the Ministry of Economy, Industry, and Investment aimed at strengthening local industries, utilizing domestic resources, reducing imports, and creating an attractive investment environment.
Saleh Mohammed, Director of the Governorate's Economy Office, stated that the meeting aligns with the government's vision to support the local industrial sector and reduce import dependence. He highlighted the potential for developing the carton industry in Yemen, which would create jobs and boost local production.
He emphasized the goal of fully localizing the industry to support the local economy and reduce production costs by utilizing local raw materials. The office pledged to facilitate procedures and provide an enabling environment for industry growth.
Mohammed stressed the need for cooperation between the public and private sectors for the initiative's success.
Carton factory representatives welcomed the initiative, expressing their commitment to investing in production development to meet local market demands. They emphasized the benefits of localization, including competitive pricing, reduced costs, and job creation.
Following the meeting, officials from the Economy Office visited local carton factories to assess their conditions, discuss support measures, and address challenges.
