Moscow – SABA:
The American news agency Bloomberg reported on Tuesday that Russia’s oil exports have reached their highest level in five months.
According to the agency, Russian crude oil flows from all ports across the country rose to 3.45 million barrels per day over the four weeks ending on March 23, marking the highest level since the period ending on October 20.
Despite a decline in weekly flows, driven by reduced shipments from the Baltic and Black Seas, overall exports increased, Bloomberg noted in its report.
The agency highlighted that Russian crude exports were boosted by a new short-haul client in the Mediterranean—Syria.
It revealed that the first shipment of Russian crude oil arrived at Syria’s Baniyas port late last week aboard a tanker under U.S. sanctions. Bloomberg also suggested that three additional vessels, all blacklisted by Washington, are en route to Syria.
The report also pointed out that this surge in Russian oil exports comes amid ongoing U.S.-led negotiations aimed at reaching a ceasefire in Ukraine.
