A formal handover ceremony was held on Thursday at Sana'a University Chairmanship, marking the transition between outgoing rector, Dr. al-Qasim Abbas and incoming rector Dr. Mohammed al-Bukhaiti.
The ceremony, attended by prominent figures from the Ministry of Education and Scientific Research and the university's leadership, saw Dr. al-Bukhaiti commend the significant efforts undertaken by Dr. Abbas during his term. He acknowledged Dr. Abbas's contributions to the university's infrastructural development across various levels, particularly achieved under challenging circumstances.
Dr. al-Bukhaiti emphasized the importance of building upon these achievements to further develop the university's infrastructure, with a specific focus on enhancing laboratories, workshops, and specialized labs. He underscored Sana'a University's pivotal role as the nation's leading academic institution, highlighting its significant domestic and international impact through its distinguished graduates.
Dr. Abbas expressed his sincere gratitude to the university's dedicated academic and administrative staff, who have persevered in their work throughout the past years despite the prevailing difficult circumstances.
He extended his best wishes for success to the new university rector in his new role, acknowledging the progress made across the university's various colleges and centers. He noted the advancements in terms of expansion, development, modernization, and the enhancement of both academic and administrative performance.
Dr. Abbas also praised Dr. Al-Bukhaiti's previous efforts at both the academic and administrative levels and urged the entire university community to support him in further elevating the academic standing of Sana'a University to the level it deserves both nationally and internationally.
In a gesture of appreciation and recognition for his service to the university, Dr. al-Bukhaiti presented Dr. Abbas with the university shield. Dr. Abbas was also honored with a shield from the University Student Forum.
