Sana'a - Saba:
A meeting chaired by Minister of Economy, Industry, and Investment, Eng. Moeen al-Mahaqeri on Saturday focused on implementing measures to boycott American and Israeli goods, following directives from the President of the Supreme Political Council.
Minister al-Mahaqeri stressed the urgency of taking executive actions to prevent the entry and circulation of American and Israeli goods, including those with their trademarks. He directed the issuance of a memorandum to traders to dispose of existing American goods within a three-month deadline and shift to alternatives.
The meeting praised public awareness of the boycott as a religious and humanitarian duty to support Palestine and confront US-Israeli aggression.
It emphasized the need to activate media and involve religious leaders and civil society in raising boycott awareness as an effective economic weapon reflecting Yemen's stance against "Zionist and American terrorism."
Undersecretary Abdulfattah al-Dhuwaid confirmed that the Ministry's offices would begin confiscating and destroying boycotted goods after the three-month deadline, in cooperation with judicial authorities. Assistant Undersecretary Fouad Huwaidi noted a significant decline in US imports in 2024 compared to 2022.
The meeting approved a draft resolution banning the import and trade of US and Israeli goods and submitted it to the Prime Minister for issuance.
