Gaza - SABA:
Ottawa - SABA:
Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney called on the Zionist occupation authorities on Saturday to permit food supplies into Gaza and allow the World Food Programme (WFP) to operate in the besieged territory.
In a post on platform "X," Carney stated: "Food must not be used as a political weapon," following the exhaustion of UN agency stockpiles due to the ongoing Israeli blockade on humanitarian supplies.
He clarified: "The UN World Food Programme has just announced its food stocks in Gaza have run out due to the siege imposed by the Israeli government. Food cannot be weaponized."
Carney emphasized: "The World Food Programme must be permitted to resume its lifesaving operations," adding: "We will continue working with our allies to achieve a permanent ceasefire."
