Sana'a - Saba:
The Yemeni Center for Human Rights has strongly condemned the "brutal crime" committed by the "US aggression" against an illegal migrant shelter within the Correctional Facility in Sa'ada City, which resulted in numerous deaths and injuries.
In a statement released on Monday, the center asserted that the targeting of the shelter constitutes a war crime under international humanitarian law and international human rights law, violating the Geneva Conventions and their protocols.
The center highlighted that the "aggression" used excessive force against a building known to organizations like the ICRC and IOM, which work to protect migrants.
The Yemeni Center for Human Rights criticized the silence of the United Nations and the Security Council regarding the "crimes committed by the United States against the Yemeni people," stating that this inaction emboldens further attacks on civilians and civilian infrastructure such as markets, shelters, and homes.
The center attributed the continued raids and crimes to the United States' "policy of impunity" in Yemen and globally, holding America fully responsible for these actions.
The Yemeni Center for Human Rights called upon the UN and international organizations, particularly the Human Rights Council, UNHCR, the Red Cross, and all relevant bodies, to condemn this crime.
It urged these organizations to visit and document the targeted sites and compile legal and human rights files for submission to local and international judicial authorities to prosecute the perpetrators of these "crimes, which are not subject to statute of limitations."
Finally, the center appealed to the free people of the world to take effective action using all available means to halt these crimes.
