Gaza - Saba:
Dr. Mohamed Abu Salmiya, Director-General of Al-Shifa Medical Complex, warned on Tuesday of the imminent shutdown of several hospitals in the Gaza Strip within the next few hours due to a shortage of fuel needed to operate electric generators.
Abu Salmiya explained in press statements that the Public Service Hospital has already ceased operations, while Al-Shifa Medical Complex is threatened with shutdown within hours, and Al-Hilou International Hospital has less than four hours remaining before it also stops functioning. “Other hospitals, at best, will hold out until tomorrow morning.”
He stressed that this deterioration puts hundreds of injured and sick patients at real risk, especially those receiving treatment in intensive care units, neonatal incubators, dialysis machines, operating rooms, and laboratories, where these vital services will come to a complete halt.
Abu Salmiya called on international and humanitarian bodies to urgently intervene to supply fuel, warning of an impending health catastrophe that threatens the lives of patients and injured across the besieged health sector.
