Moscow - Saba:
Russian Security Council Deputy Chairman Dmitry Medvedev confirmed on Tuesday that U.S. President Donald Trump’s statements on July 14 were nothing more than showy remarks, and Moscow paid them no attention.
Medvedev wrote on his official page on the social media platform X in English, according to RT channel, marking Moscow’s first official reaction to Washington’s statements yesterday, saying: “Trump issued a showy warning to the Kremlin. The world trembled, expecting consequences. The hostile European Union was disappointed. As for Russia, it paid no attention.”
U.S. President Donald Trump announced yesterday that Washington would impose tariffs on Russia and its trade partners if Moscow failed to reach a settlement agreement regarding Ukraine within 50 days.
Meanwhile, the German magazine Der Spiegel noted that Trump’s announcement was “less than many expected,” and expectations regarding Trump’s announcement varied. The magazine added that the direct tariffs “will not significantly affect the Russian economy.”
