The House of Representatives commenced on Saturdaythe first session of its current term during the annual legislative session , chaired by Parliament Speaker Yahya Ali Al-Ra’i.
During the session, the House reaffirmed its endorsement and support for the content of the speech delivered by the Leader of the Revolution, His Eminence Al-Mujahid Abdulmalik Badruddin Al-Houthi, regarding the latest developments on the national and Palestinian fronts.
The Parliament highly commended the wise, honorable, and responsible positions of the Revolution Leader, reflecting the hopes and aspirations of the Yemeni people and the free people of the Arab and Islamic nations.
The House also endorsed the fourth phase of escalation in support of Gaza, considering these measures a step in the path of practical response to the crimes committed by the Zionist occupation against the Palestinian people in Gaza.
It emphasized that confronting the Zionist entity falls within the framework of steadfast positions dictated by religious, moral, and humanitarian duty to halt the genocide and starvation imposed by the criminal Zionist enemy on Gaza. The Parliament condemned the enemy’s schemes to exploit aid distribution centers to kill besieged civilians, reflecting its brutality and military and moral failure.
The House held the countries surrounding Palestine fully responsible for the suffering of Gaza’s people, noting that official silence and Arab inaction have directly enabled the Zionist enemy to commit further massacres against Gazans.
It saluted the massive million-man marches held yesterday in the capital, Sana’a, and other liberated provinces, reaffirming the steadfastness of Yemen’s popular and official stance in support of Gaza and Palestine, and rejecting suspicious deals aimed at undermining the legitimate rights and demands of the Palestinian people.
The Parliament reiterated the importance of national unity and maintaining readiness to counter the conspiracies of enemies, traitors, and mercenaries seeking to dissuade the Yemeni people from their honorable and principled stance in supporting their brethren in Gaza and Palestine.
It denounced the continued inaction of Arab and Islamic regimes in the face of Gaza’s genocide , starvation, calling on parliaments, free nations, and peoples to uphold their responsibilities in supporting the Palestinian people and rejecting deals that undermine their legitimate rights.
Regarding domestic issues, the House stressed the need for comprehensive reforms based on modern, effective principles of transparency, oversight, and evaluation at all administrative levels, addressing deficiencies wherever they exist.
It emphasized that this stems from a commitment to meeting citizens' aspirations for sustainable development, improving infrastructure, enhancing basic services, and achieving economic empowerment and self-sufficiency.
The Parliament underscored the importance of national unity, internal cohesion, steadfastness to preserve Yemen’s social fabric and sovereignty, countering attempts to fragment national unity or compromise sovereignty.
It highlighted the need to maintain security and stability in Yemen’s liberated provinces and called for continued engagement with regional and international parliaments, the UN, and the Security Council to expose the effects of aggression, blockade, and the plundering of Yemen’s wealth by mercenaries of the aggression coalition.
The session began with a recitation of Al-Fatiha in honor of late MPs Sheikh Ali Ali Mohammed Al-Khubal (Constituency 188, Al-Zaydiyah, Hodeidah) and Sheikh Zaid Mohammed Mohammed Abu Ali (Constituency 241, Al-Tawilah, Al-Mahwit).
Speaker Yahya Ali Al-Ra’i stressed the importance of the House fulfilling its responsibilities amid current challenges, urging enhanced national unity, vigilance, and historical awareness to preserve Yemen’s sovereignty, stability, and achievements.
He called for teamwork to counter conspiracies targeting Yemen and the nation, promoting reconciliation, tolerance, rule of law, justice, and equality in a Yemen that embraces all.
The Speaker urged standing united behind the Revolution Leader and political leadership in facing challenges, demanding parliamentary committees expedite their tasks, particularly in monitoring the government’s implementation of reforms.
The Parliament then held a general discussion on national issues, including the plundering of Yemen’s wealth and resources by the aggression coalition, exacerbating the people’s suffering.
It warned against mercenaries aligning with conspiratorial schemes targeting Yemen’s economy and development.
The House heard reports from the Labor and Social Affairs Committee and the Public Health and Population Committee regarding governmental efforts in civil service reforms and healthcare improvements, promising follow-up reports.
Finally, the Parliament reviewed and approved its agenda for the current term and will resume sessions tomorrow, Sunday, God willing.
