WHO calls for increased health aid to Gaza amid deteriorating humanitarian conditions

Geneva - Saba:
The World Health Organization (WHO) urged on Sunday the necessity of continuing and increasing the volume of health aid sent to the Gaza Strip, as it faces a severe deterioration in humanitarian conditions due to the ongoing Israeli siege.

In a post on the platform "X," WHO Director-General Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus stated that the lives of civilians in Gaza fundamentally depend on the flow of humanitarian aid, particularly medical supplies. He emphasized that the health sector in Gaza is under immense pressure, requiring an urgent response.

Ghebreyesus explained that since the beginning of August, WHO has dispatched 24 trucks loaded with essential medicines and medical supplies to Gaza. He added that these supplies will be distributed to several hospitals and health centers to enhance their capacity to provide life-saving services.

He also reaffirmed WHO's commitment to continuing its humanitarian and medical support for Gaza, calling on the international community and relevant parties to facilitate the entry of aid and ensure its safe and timely delivery.

This appeal comes as Gaza experiences an unprecedented humanitarian crisis, with a severe shortage of medical supplies , a growing number of injured and sick individuals struggling to access basic healthcare.
