A preparatory meeting was held today in Sha’ub District, Amanat Al-Asimah (the capital secretariat), to plan for the celebration of the Prophet Muhammad’s (PBUH) birthday for the Islamic year 1447 AH.
The meeting was chaired by Ali Al-Saqqaf, Deputy of the General Authority for Zakat, and attended by district secretary Muhammad Al-Hadhrami, as well as several neighborhood mobilization officials and local leaders.
In his remarks, Al-Saqqaf emphasized the importance of unified efforts and thorough preparation to organize this year’s Mawlid Al-Nabawi events with greater enthusiasm and reach than previous years. He stressed that commemorating the Prophet’s birth reflects Yemenis’ steadfast commitment to his path, message, and legacy, and reaffirms their devotion to Islam and its noble values.
He added that Yemenis have a deep spiritual connection to the Prophet, and their eagerness to celebrate his birth serves as a renewal of love, loyalty, and emulation of his teachings.
Al-Saqqaf also highlighted the role of community leaders and mobilization officials in raising awareness, organizing events, and promoting a spirit of social solidarity and compassion. He called for public participation in decorating neighborhoods, cleanliness campaigns, and various community-based celebrations.
Meanwhile, Abdullah Al-Koul, the district’s mobilization officer, and Majed Al-Sharif, head of community committees, presented an overview of ongoing preparations, including coordination with local executive offices and the development of a comprehensive plan for religious, cultural, and educational activities.
They both emphasized the need for active participation across neighborhoods and communities, to honor the Prophet’s legacy, follow his example, and reflect on his noble character and teachings through lectures, seminars, and public events.
The meeting concluded with a call to mobilize broad community engagement to ensure a meaningful and spiritually enriching commemoration of the Prophet’s birthday.
