The General Secretariat of the Yemeni Writers and Authors Union has mourned the passing of Karim Al-Hanki—poet, researcher, literary critic, and a member of the Union’s Executive Council—who passed away today at the age of 65, after a lifetime devoted to literature and the defense of Yemeni unity and noble values.
In its obituary, the Secretariat stated:
“With the passing of Al-Hanki, Yemen has lost one of its most distinguished literary figures—an exceptional writer who dedicated his creative and unique work to his homeland.”
The statement highlighted Al-Hanki’s steadfast commitment to national unity, creative integrity, and the values of cultural resistance, noting that these principles were deeply reflected in his life and writings.
The Union expressed deep sorrow and regret over what it described as the untimely loss of Al-Hanki, whose prolific contributions enriched the Yemeni literary archive with numerous titles that will ensure his enduring presence in Yemen’s creative memory.
