Geneva - Saba:
Director-General of the World Health Organization Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said on Friday that "people are dying in Gaza from hunger and disease, but also from the desperate search for food."
He added in a post on X platform monitored by the Yemeni News Agency (Saba): "The ongoing closures must be lifted, and greater amounts of aid must be provided to rebuild vital reserves."
He called for "the protection of health workers, the release of all prisoners, a ceasefire, and the achievement of lasting peace."
Palestinians in the Gaza Strip have been facing an unprecedented wave of hunger since the Israeli enemy closed the Strip's crossings in early March, imposing severe restrictions on the entry of food, relief aid, fuel, and medicine.
Over time, Gaza's residents have exhausted all food supplies, shops have become empty, finding a loaf of bread has become almost impossible, and available goods have seen skyrocketing prices. Starvation has become one of the most devastating causes of death in the Strip.
