GAZA December 12. 2023 (Saba) - The Zionist enemy has bombed the house of Anas al-Sharif, al Jazeera’s correspondent in the Gaza Strip, in Jabalia refugee camp, leading to the martyrdom of his father.

Al-Sharif said to al-Jazeera following the martyrdom of his father that he was unable to reach his house, which was bombed in the continuous Zionist bombing.

He added "We were not able to bury my father because of the Zionist bombing, and we had to bury him in a schoolyard."

Anas al-Sharif continued challenging the Zionist enemy that had previously threatened him, and called on him to stop covering northern Gaza, saying: “I will continue to cover the crimes of the Zionist occupation against the Palestinians in Gaza.”

Al-Sharif said “The occupation does not want the picture to come out, and we will continue with the coverage despite the siege.”

Al Jazeera had hired Anas al-Sharif, a local journalist in Gaza, to cover the news in northern Gaza, after the channel’s correspondents left for the south.

The Zionist enemy targeted dozens of journalists and their families in Gaza, resulting in the martyrdom of at least about 80 journalists.

The Palestinian Journalists Syndicate said the families of dozens of journalists “were martyred as a price for their children’s profession.” It once again mourned the martyrdom of dozens of male and female journalists during the brutal war launched by the Zionist enemy on the Gaza Strip.

It explained in a previous statement issued by it that “dozens of the families of Palestinian journalists were martyred by the missiles of the Zionist enemy aircraft that bombed the Gaza Strip,” noting that it had monitored attacks that targeted “dozens of homes inhabited by journalists and their families.”

On the sixth of this month, the Palestinian Journalists Syndicate confirmed that it had documented, during the first two months of the ongoing brutal Zionist aggression on the Gaza Strip, the martyrdom of 75 journalists and workers in the media sector, in addition to the injury of about 80 journalists, and the loss of two journalists.

The Syndicate said in a report, according to the Palestinian Information Center, the enemy’s bombing targeted the homes of 60 journalists’ families, destroyed the headquarters of 63 press institutions and offices, and disrupted the work of 25 local radio stations (24 in Gaza and one in the West Bank).

It is worth mentioning that Palestinian journalists in Gaza and the West Bank are subjected to systematic targeting and work in extremely difficult conditions under the barbaric Zionist bombing, while many of them documented their last moments and their will to their family and to the world on the air.

Many of them also lost their families and loved ones and made great sacrifices that the world that claims to protect continues to do so.
