SANA'A April 25. 2024 (Saba) - An international scientific journal awarded the certificate of the best scientific research for the year 2024 to Yemeni researchers from the faculty members at Sana'a University, through which they were able to prepare and develop capsules for the treatment of cancer, extracted from seaweed.
The European Journal of Biomedical and Pharmaceutical Sciences (EJBPS) chose the research of Professor Mahmoud Al-Buraihi, Professor of Pharmaceutics and Industrial Pharmacy at the Faculty of Pharmacy at Sana'a University, and Professor Amina Al-Shaibani, Professor of Medical Pharmacognosy at Sana'a University, as the best scientific research for the year 2024 for their great role in discovering a cure for cancer from natural sources, herbs and marine algae.
Professor Mahmoud Al-Buraihi explained to the Yemeni News Agency (Saba) that the selection of the research as the best scientific research for the current year is a medal and pride for all the innovators and researchers that Yemen abounds in in various scientific fields, who raise Yemen's name high in international and global forums.
He pointed out that this achievement is added to the scientific achievements of Sana'a University. He stressed that Yemen is full of academic expertise and competencies, natural resources, plant and marine medicinal herbs, and natural resources used in the pharmaceutical industry.
He pointed out that the research, which was published in the European Journal, lies in the importance of discovering a cure for cancer, the extract of moss "Dictuta decoction" extracted from the Red Sea coast, which was prepared and developed through capsules of drug delivery systems for the treatment of cancer, which is one of the incurable diseases spread in the world.
Prof. Al-Buraihi praised the role of the leadership of Sana'a University in supporting and sponsoring innovators and researchers at the university, encouraging them to scientific research, and publishing research in international journals. He pointed out that Sana'a University honored the most influential researchers and academics and published their research in international journals for the second year in a row.
Yemeni researchers have multiple achievements in developing drugs to treat cancer, liver, diabetes, kidney stones, and other incurable diseases.
