GENEVA May 19. 2024 (Saba) - The World Health Organization confirmed that "with the continued closure of the Rafah crossing since May 6, the supply of essential medicines and fuel has become very low in the Gaza Strip, and movement is limited due to security restrictions."
WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said in a post on his X account on Sunday that "recent Israeli evacuation orders, intensive bombardment, and the lack of passage of aid through Gaza put the lives and health of civilians at grave risk."
He expressed deep concern over reports of "intensified hostilities near Kamal Adwan Hospital in northern Gaza, and an increased influx of injured patients, given the hospital's limited capacity to provide care."
"We can't describe the situation in Gaza, it's time for a ceasefire and peace for civilians there," Ghebreyesus said.
