UNICEF: Gaza's children most affected, need psychological, educational support

NEW YORK August 18. 2024 (Saba) - A United Nations organization on Sunday said children in Gaza Strip are the most group affected by the continuing Zionist aggression on the Strip, and they are in urgent need of psychological and educational support.

According to Sama News Agency, the spokesman for the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), Kazem Abu Khalaf, said that the current situation in Gaza Strip requires an urgent response to help children who suffer from loss of education and serious psychological damage they are exposed to.

Abu Khalaf pointed out that the number of children who were martyred is at least 14,000, and these are the lowest estimates, in addition to thousands of injured.

According to the organization’s official website, Abu Khalaf said that all children in Gaza Strip need psychological support, as at least 625,000 children have lost a year of school since the start of the aggression on Strip last October, and some children have had their limbs amputated and need to leave. sector to receive treatment.

He stressed that there are many children suffering from fear and anxiety because of Zionist aggression.

He pointed out that UNICEF worked during the recent period with its partners in Gaza Strip to create “temporary spaces for education,” which are large tents in the middle of displaced persons’ gatherings, but due to the continuous Zionist targeting of these areas, attempts at education faltered.

He added that UNICEF and its partners in humanitarian work are trying to provide whatever services they can in light of the current circumstances, and are also providing food aid and fuel to hospitals.
