MOSCOW August 30. 2024 (Saba) - Russian Finance Minister Anton Siluanov said the Russian economy is growing faster than authorities and experts expected.

Siluanov said in a television interview on Friday: "The economy is developing at a higher pace than our estimates and experts' expectations, and the implementation of budget items exceeds the standards of expectations."

Data from Russia's Ministry of Economic Development showed the country's GDP grew in the first half of the year by 4.6 percent year-on-year, despite sanctions and attempts by the West to hit the Russian economy.

The growth of the Russian economy accelerated in July to 3.4 percent year-on-year from three percent recorded last June, and ministry data indicated that GDP grew in the January-July period (seven months) this year by 4.4 percent.
