ULAANBAATAR September 03. 2024 (Saba) – Russian President Vladimir Putin has extended an invitation to Mongolian President Ukhnagiin Khurelsukh to attend the upcoming BRICS summit in Kazan, Russia.

The summit, scheduled to take place from October 22 to 24, 2024, will be the first since the recent expansion of the BRICS group.

During his visit to Mongolia, which began on Monday, President Putin highlighted the significance of this year's summit, marking the introduction of new member countries.

He expressed hope that President Khurelsukh would participate in the BRICS+ summit, which will include leaders from the expanded group.

The Kazan summit will see the participation of the BRICS countries—Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa—along with new members Egypt, Iran, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Ethiopia.

This expansion has boosted BRICS' global influence, representing 45% of the world's population and 36% of global GDP, surpassing the G7’s 30% contribution.

President Putin’s visit to Ulaanbaatar focuses on strengthening bilateral cooperation, particularly in economic sectors.

Additionally, approximately 23 other countries have shown interest in joining the BRICS bloc.
