Paris - Saba: The French Foreign Ministry said Thursday that an 87-year-old French woman was killed in a powerful explosion in southern Lebanon.
Reuters quoted the ministry as saying that the building where the French citizen lived "collapsed after a powerful explosion occurred near it," adding that it "has no knowledge of other French casualties in the conflict."
About 20,000 French nationals are registered with the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs as living in Lebanon, the agency said.
On Monday, the Israeli military began its deadliest and largest offensive on Lebanon since clashes with Hezbollah began nearly a year ago, killing more than 600 people and displacing more than 70,000.
