Beirut - Saba: The Lebanese Foreign Ministry expressed its condemnation and denunciation of the Israeli Knesset's approval of legislation banning the activities of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), considering it a flagrant violation of international laws and relevant international legitimacy resolutions.
It stressed in a statement today, Wednesday, that "this unprecedented step is part of a systematic Zionist campaign to target the agency, distort its image, obstruct its efforts, and end its role in providing basic services and humanitarian aid to Palestinian refugees in host countries and the occupied territories. It also adds to the ongoing Zionist incitement of donor countries to stop funding it, which poses a threat to regional security and host countries, and threatens to deprive Palestinians of any hope for a better life and future, and pushes them towards despair and extremism."
The Lebanese Foreign Ministry called on the international community to "effectively confront these illegal measures, by continuing the necessary support for this agency and providing it with financial resources from donor countries to enable it to continue providing services to Palestinian refugees as required."
