Pyongyang-Saba: North Korea renewed its determination to defend its sovereign right, security and development interests, and to intensify its practical efforts to ensure the permanent stability of the Korean Peninsula and the region in a responsible manner, and its readiness to confront any threat or challenge firmly in the present and the future.
The official Korean Central News Agency quoted a spokesman for the North Korean Foreign Ministry as saying: His country will intensify its practical efforts to deter the military threat of hostile forces and maintain the balance of power in the region, and confront the American and South Korean plans, noting that this year witnessed more than 20 attempts to wage war in the region, which left Pyongyang with no choice but to work to completely deter the danger of a nuclear war.
The Foreign Ministry spokesperson explained that the country's latest intercontinental ballistic missile test-fire constitutes a legitimate and just exercise of a sovereign state's right to self-defense, as it is part of the practical response to the hostile forces' reckless provocative moves to openly destroy peace and stability in the region surrounding the Korean Peninsula, while blatantly challenging the sovereignty, security and interests of the DPRK.
