The BRICS member states have already put recommendations on equivalent payment mechanisms, the Russian foreign minister told BRICS TV Network.
The payment system was included in Kazan Summit's agenda, and was discussed at meetings held by ministers of finance and governors of central banks throughout the year, Sergey Lavrov added.
While the recommendations are not yet final, it is possible to start founding reliable, sustainable, long-term systems, he said, as "I'm sure that Brazil, the next president, would continue this effort."
The US dollar is increasingly used as a hostile weapon in the global economy, the Russian FM said, underlining the need for a parallel settlement system secured from such risks.
