Moscow - SABA:
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated that Moscow is prepared for an equal dialogue with the United States, provided Washington demonstrates genuine intentions to negotiate fairly, with a recognition of Russia's national interests.
In response to a question about the future of U.S.-Russia relations in the context of the upcoming American elections, Lavrov remarked: “The anti-Russian sentiment and hostility toward Russia in U.S. policy stem from a bipartisan domestic consensus, where Ukraine is perceived as a key element of the hybrid war waged against Russia.”
Lavrov emphasized that “it is unnecessary to take what the American presidential candidates say seriously amid electoral debates.” He stressed the importance of maintaining diplomatic communications with the United States, noting that as the world's two largest nuclear powers, Moscow and Washington bear a unique responsibility, which underscores the necessity of diplomatic engagement and the work of embassies.
On another note, Lavrov issued a warning to NATO and its member states against taking aggressive actions toward Moscow, asserting that Russia would respond appropriately.
He stated: “Our adversaries should not be mistaken; if NATO or any member state engages in aggressive measures against our country, Russia will take adequate countermeasures in full compliance with our sovereign right to self-defense, utilizing any means necessary to ensure our security, as stipulated by the United Nations Charter.”
