Geneva – Saba:
The Commissioner-General of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) announced on Monday that there is no alternative to the presence of UNRWA in the occupied territories, following the decision of the Zionist enemy to ban its activities.
According to AFP, UNRWA Commissioner-General Philippe Lazzarini told a press conference in Geneva that "there is no Plan B within the UN because no other agency can offer the same activities."
Lazzarini called on the international community to act to prevent the implementation of the two laws, which, if they happen, mean that "we will no longer be able to operate in Gaza. Coordinate our actions and reduce the risk of conflict, so the environment will become very dangerous."
UNRWA staff fear "instability at work... But beyond that, they fear that any of them will be exposed... to arrest," Lazzarini said.
Last October, the Zionist so-called Knesset decided to prevent UNRWA from carrying out its activities in the occupied Palestinian territories, and the decision comes into force 90 days after its adoption.
