A draft resolution demanding an end to the aggression on the Gaza Strip.
The council will hold its session at 10:00 a.m. New York time, on the draft resolution, which was submitted by the non-permanent members of the council, according to the Palestinian News Agency (PNA).
The draft resolution calls on all parties to abide by their responsibilities under international law “regarding persons in their custody,” and to provide basic services and humanitarian aid to the population of Gaza, in addition to the parties' commitment to international law and international humanitarian law, especially with regard to the protection of civilians and their civilian property.
It also calls on the parties to implement UN Resolution 2735 and emphasizes that “UNRWA remains the backbone of the humanitarian response in Gaza.”
The Council requested the UN Secretary-General to submit a written report on the implementation of this resolution within three weeks and a comprehensive detailed report within 90 days assessing the short, medium and long-term needs in Gaza, a full breakdown of the humanitarian, social and economic consequences of the conflict in Gaza, and an overview of the functioning of the entire UN system in the Gaza Strip.
