The death toll from Typhoon Man Yi which hit the Philippines over the weekend has risen to 12.
AFP quoted the Philippine National Disaster Management Agency as saying in a statement today: "Typhoon Man Yi flooded several villages and buildings in the Philippines," noting that strong winds accompanied the typhoon reached a maximum speed of 185 kilometers per hour.
It added: Most of the dead were in mountainous areas north of the capital Manila, including seven people killed after their house was buried by a landslide in the province of Nueva Vizcaya, and a rock crushed a house and buried three people in the coastal town of Depacolao, while two people were killed in other areas, stressing that four people are still missing.
Man Yi is the sixth storm to hit the Philippines in less than a month, with previous storms killing at least 163 people, displacing thousands of people, and wiping out crops.
