Russian Security Council Deputy Chairman Dmitry Medvedev on Friday said that Ukraine today faces a choice: either to be with Russia or to disappear completely from the world map. In order to preserve the country, the Ukrainian authorities must stop opposing everything Russian.
Medvedev added - in an article entitled "On National Identity and Political Choice: The Experience of Russia and China", which was published in the "International Affairs" magazine, according to the Russian "Sputnik" agency - "Ukraine today faces a choice: either to be with Russia or to disappear completely from the world map."
He continued, "At the same time, Ukrainians are not required to sacrifice either soul or body for the sake of their freedom, but they must calm the pride of others, stop opposing the comprehensive Russian project, and expel the Ukrainian political demons."
Medvedev stressed that in order to avoid the disappearance of Ukraine, it is necessary to "raise public awareness that Russia is indispensable for Ukraine, neither culturally, nor linguistically, nor politically."
He continued: "The Western world has made it a priority to create objective ethnic, linguistic, cultural, tribal or religious differences, and to turn them to its advantage," noting that the West sought to prevent the unification of people so that they could not repel the enemy, and provoked competition and discord between them."
He noted that one of Russia's tasks in the Ukrainian direction is to help the people of Little Russia and Novorossiya build a state free from the troubles of "Ukrainianism", to strengthen and consolidate the idea and inevitability of the Russian language and culture.
Medvedev added: "At the same time, Ukrainians are not required to sacrifice either soul or body for the sake of their freedom, but they must calm the pride of others, refuse to oppose the comprehensive Russian project, and expel Ukrainian political demons."
According to Medvedev, the principle of "divide and conquer" advocated by Western lecturers brings suffering and misfortunes all over the world and becomes a source of ethnic, social and cultural conflicts, and this was the case earlier in history, and this continues today.
He pointed out that the West does not supply Ukraine with weapons not only that, but it also rules the country through NGOs, which are controlled by the special services.
