Hodeida governor Abdullah Atifi, alongside Hodeida first undersecrctary Ahmed al-Bishri, officially inaugurated on Tuesday the latest shock wave lithotripsy device at al-Thawra General Hospital Authority.
The event was attended by director of the health office in the province Dr. Khalid al-Madani and chairman of the authority Dr. Khaled Suhail who provided detailed explanations of the device’s medical capabilities.
The shock wave lithotripsy device, valued at $440,000, was funded by the Yemen Development Organization. This state-of-the-art equipment marks a significant step in modernizing medical treatment for kidney stones, offering a non-surgical solution to patients in the region.
Governor Atifi expressed his satisfaction with the development projects at al-Thawra Hospital, highlighting the hospital’s upgraded medical equipment, which meets the growing demand for medical care in Hodeida and surrounding areas.
The new device will reduce the need for patients to travel to the capital Sana'a, saving both time and treatment costs.
In his speech, Hodeid provine undersecrectary Mohammed Halisi emphasized that the device represents a major advancement in the region's healthcare services, underscoring its contribution to expanding the hospital's capabilities.
The chairman of the authority also praised the support from the Ministry of Health and the local government, which has been instrumental in ensuring the hospital’s continued growth and modernization.
The officials were also briefed on ongoing projects to enhance other medical departments at the hospital, including emergency services, laboratories, and intensive care units.
Hodeida governor expressed his continued commitment to improving the hospital’s infrastructure and medical services to better serve the needs of the local population.
