Ibb - Saba:
The branch of the General Authority for Water Resources and Facilities in Ibb province carried out a campaign to backfill illegal hand wells in the districts of Al-Qafr, Al-Sabra and Rif Ibb, as part of the authority's efforts to curb the phenomenon of random drilling and depletion of groundwater, said Mohammed Al-Warafi, director of the authority's branch in Ibb.
The campaign, which was carried out in coordination with the Public Prosecution and security agencies, comes within the framework of the authority's efforts to curb the phenomenon of random drilling of wells, which leads to the depletion of water resources and the deterioration of the environmental situation in the targeted areas, said Mohammed Al-Warafi, director of the authority's branch in the province.
He explained that these wells were dug randomly in violation of the law, noting that the campaign comes in implementation of the program of the Government of Change and Construction, with the aim of preserving water resources, limiting the spread of random drilling, and achieving environmental sustainability in all districts.
He pointed out that the Authority's branch will continue to carry out similar campaigns in the directorates to curb illegal drilling and regulate water consumption, noting that the Authority provides facilities for citizens wishing to obtain drilling licenses, register and correct the status of wells legally.
Al-Warafi urged citizens to abide by the laws and guidelines governing the drilling process to ensure the preservation and sustainability of groundwater for generations to come. He emphasized that concerted efforts and community participation in protecting water resources is an essential part of protecting water resources, improving water quality and preserving the environment.
