Beirut - Saba:
The Director of the UNIFIL Public Information Office, Candice Ardel, announced last night that the Israeli army was informed that it cannot guarantee the safety of peacekeeping forces in the vicinity of Taybeh, southern Lebanon, and that patrols are avoiding walking in that area.
Ardel stressed that the safety of peacekeeping soldiers "is a top priority," noting that they in UNIFIL will not do anything that exposes them to any unnecessary risk.
The UNIFIL Public Information Officer reminded the Israeli army of its obligations under Resolution 1701 to ensure the safety of peacekeeping forces and ensure their freedom of movement throughout the UNIFIL area of operations in southern Lebanon.
