Berlin - Saba:
The German football club Union Berlin late on Tuesday announced the appointment of coach Steffen Baumgart instead of the dismissed Danish Bo Svensson.
The German club confirmed in a statement that Baumgart would prepare the team to continue the season starting from the 2nd of next January.
Baumgart was a player for Union Berlin for two seasons between 2002 and 2004, where he wore the captain's armband and won the award for the best player in his team. He also supervised the training of the German club Hamburg, which dispensed with his services last November.
Union Berlin is ranked 12th in the German League after 15 rounds, and the team has not won in the last eight matches in the league, losing five times, and was eliminated from the Cup competition by Arminia Bielefeld from the third division.
The German capital club ensured its survival among the elite clubs by a small margin last season, after participating in the 2022-2023 season of Euro Champions League.
