Cotonou - Saba:
The Air Traffic Controllers’ Unions of the Agency for the Safety of Air Navigation in Africa (FACAA) expressed solidarity with Yemeni air traffic controllers injured while performing their duties during recent Zionist airstrikes that damaged the control tower at Sana’a International Airport.
A statement issued by the air traffic controllers' unions, a copy of which was received by the Yemeni News Agency (Saba), described the injuries sustained by aviation professionals during the fulfillment of their duties as a tragic reminder of the risks faced by aviation workers in conflict zones.
The statement praised the courage and dedication of air traffic controllers who continue to fulfill their significant responsibilities under extremely challenging circumstances, while also extending wishes for the injured to recover swiftly.
FACAA urged the international community to take concrete steps to ensure the safety of air traffic controllers, reaffirming the unions' support for the Yemeni Air Traffic Controllers’ Association.
The organization reiterated its commitment to advocating for the protection and support of aviation professionals wherever their safety is at risk. The statement concluded: "We stand united in hope for a safer future for our colleagues and the global aviation community."
It is noteworthy that FACAA is a non-political, non-profit organization founded on March 24, 2011, in Cotonou, Republic of Benin, during its inaugural conference. Its mission is to protect the interests of its members and to leverage its expertise in developing safe and organized air traffic management systems within the ASECNA framework. The organization is composed of 16 professional associations, representing approximately 700 air traffic controllers.
