Algeria - Saba:
Algerian Environment Minister Najiba Djilali announced on Thursday that Algeria's demand to hold France responsible for removing the catastrophic remnants of the nuclear explosions in the south during the colonial period will be included "clearly and explicitly" in national environmental legislation to enhance the rights of current and future generations.
Following the National Assembly's approval of the text of the law on the management, monitoring and removal of waste, during a public session chaired by the Speaker of the Assembly, Saleh Goudjil, the minister considered that the new law "has dimensions that go beyond current environmental challenges, to carry within it strong messages related to historical and environmental justice."
