Moscow - Saba:
Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov confirmed today that the Kremlin believes that a settlement in the Middle East can only be achieved on the basis of a two-state solution.
This came according to what Peskov stated in response to US President Donald Trump's statements on the possibility of resettling Palestinians from Gaza, where he continued: "Regarding the issue of resettlement, yes, we heard Trump's statement on this issue, and we heard and saw statements from Amman and Cairo, which spoke of rejecting such an idea.
Therefore, at the present time, we believe that a settlement in the Middle East can only be achieved on the basis of a two-state solution."
Peskov returned to emphasize Russia's firm position on the Palestinian issue and the settlement in the Middle East: "Our position on the settlement in the Middle East is well known.
A settlement in the Middle East can only be achieved on the basis of a two-state solution, which is the thesis stipulated in the relevant UN Security Council resolutions, and which we proceed from, support, and believe is the only option."
