A leader of the Islamic Resistance Movement Hamas, Mahmoud Mardawi, on Thursday said the escalation of demolition and destruction of homes and property of citizens in the West Bank, and the Zionist military operations, especially in the northern West Bank, indicate the seriousness of the coming stage that requires mobilization of all the Palestinians to defend the West Bank and its land.
In a statement reported by the Palestinian Information Center Mardawi said added that the increase in the pace of home demolitions and the destruction of main streets and infrastructure, coinciding with the continuation of the Zionist aggression in the northern West Bank, will not break the will of the Palestinian people and will not push them to surrender.
What the extremist Netanyahu government and the settler groups are planning and have begun to implement in terms of looting and annexing West Bank lands and expanding settlements, comes with American cover and international disregard for the occupation's violations against the Palestinians and their rights, he said.
Mardawi confirmed the right of the Palestinian people to use all available means to defend themselves, their land and their property, and to preserve their existence and resist displacement plans, accusing the authority in the West Bank of facilitating the occupation's mission by pursuing and arresting resistance fighters, as is happening in Jenin, Tulkarm and Tubas.
He stressed the need for Arab countries, especially those surrounding Palestine, to take a firm and strict stance against any attempt to displace Palestinians, and to reject even the suggestion of ideas about this.
"The Palestinian people will not leave their land and will not allow themselves to be displaced from it, no matter how great the sacrifices are, and the scene of the return of the displaced to the northern Gaza Strip is the greatest evidence of this."
He said the crimes of the Zionist enemy will ignite public anger and lead to a major escalation in resistance work, as "the escalation of the occupation forces' systematic policy of demolishing homes and destroying Palestinian facilities and holy places falls within the framework of displacement plans that target the Palestinian existence."
He added that all the plans of the Zionist enemy will fail in the face of the Palestinians' adherence to their land, and the escalation of the flame of resistance and its qualitative operations.
The Hamas leader called on the Palestinian people in the West Bank to confront the violations of the occupation forces and raise the level of engagement to the maximum degree, and protect the mosques that have not been spared from the Zionist demolition machine, the latest of which was the destruction of the Al-Taqwa prayer hall in the village of Sur Baher, south of the occupied city of Quds .
