Berlin - Saba:
Niko Kovac will become the German team's coach, the managing director of sports affairs at the German football club Borussia Dortmund said on Wednesday.
After Dortmund's 3-1 victory over Shakhtar Donetsk of Ukraine in the Champions League, we have reached an agreement in principle with Niko Kovac, and he will take over the team's training starting next Sunday, Lars Ricken added in press statements.
Kovac, the former coach of Eintracht Frankfurt, Bayern Munich, Wolfsburg and the Croatian national team, is set to receive a contract that extends until June 30, succeeding Nuri Sahin, who was forced to leave last week, after seven months of coaching the team, after the team suffered its fourth consecutive defeat.
Dortmund qualified for the Champions League play-offs, but were eliminated from the German Cup and are in 11th place in the league, six points behind the top four places that guarantee Champions League qualification.
