The senior Zionist researcher at the Misgav Institute for National Security, Moshe Bozialov, called for "waking up from the illusion" regarding the claims of the defeat of Hamas in the Gaza Strip, noting that the claim of Hamas's defeat is premature, and in fact incorrect.
Bozialov wrote in an article published in the Zionist newspaper Ma'ariv, saying: "The real decision regarding the issue of Hamas's defeat is not measured by the number of Hamas dead or the extent of the destruction in the Gaza Strip, but by Israel's ability to impose its will on the movement, so that it ceases to be a strategic threat, and is forced to give up its authority."
Bozialov noted that US President Donald Trump understood this matter well, so he proposed a plan to distribute the population of Gaza around the world, a step based on a deep strategic understanding of the conditions required to achieve a real decision.
The Zionist researcher also cited the book "War and Strategy" by Professor Yehoshafat Harkavy, which confirms that "the decision does not end with merely achieving tactical achievements or directing a severe military blow to the enemy. There are two basic criteria for determining victory: achieving the objectives set for the battle, and creating a new strategic reality in which the enemy cannot continue to be a major threat."
Therefore, Bozialov stated that "declaring victory over Hamas at this stage is nothing but a dangerous illusion. Despite the severe blow that Hamas and its leadership received, it still holds prisoners and maintains its political and social power in the Strip, so it has not yet been defeated."
The Zionist researcher also pointed out that the military maneuver of the occupation "army" in the Gaza Strip has inflicted severe damage on Hamas's military capabilities, but the real test is whether the organization has stopped being a threat.
In fact, Hamas is still capable of firing rockets, carrying out attacks, and controlling the population of Gaza. The conclusive evidence that the decision has not yet been achieved is Hamas’s refusal to release prisoners or lay down its arms. An organization that is not quick to give up its existence and its centers of power cannot be defeated by partial military means alone. Rather, a broader and deeper movement is needed.
He considered that if "Israel" wanted to achieve a real decision against Hamas, it must, in cooperation with the United States, impose a real and strong military threat that would force the Hamas leadership to realize that it has no choice but to surrender to "Israel's" conditions. The matter here is not only about more bombing or concentrated assassinations, but also about creating an intolerable reality for Hamas, which would undermine its control over the government and lead to its collapse from within, according to the Zionist researcher.
Bozialov added: Israel is currently still halfway there, and whoever claims that Hamas has already been defeated is promoting a dangerous illusion, stemming from a vision that is disconnected from reality. He added: "To achieve a real decision against Hamas, Israel must achieve all the goals of the war in Gaza, which are: destroying Hamas's military and political capabilities, releasing all prisoners, and creating a reality in which Gaza does not pose a threat to Israel - now and forever. As long as these conditions are not met, Hamas has not yet been defeated."
