Washington - Saba:

The US President Donald Trump is confident in the possibility of reaching an agreement to end the conflict in Ukraine this week, White House spokeswoman said on Saturday.

"The president and his team are focused on negotiating with both sides to end this conflict, and Trump is very confident that we can achieve that this week," Caroline Levitt said, according to Sputnik.

She stated that "Washington is continuing its active diplomatic efforts, with National Security Advisor Mike Waltz working around the clock this weekend to reach an agreement and end the conflict."

Levitt pointed out that "Trump wants peace, he wants the killing to stop and the deaths of innocent people to stop," she said, stressing that "this is his main goal at the moment."

Regarding a possible meeting between Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin, she replied that she cannot announce anything yet, but she indicated that "the White House is continuing the negotiations."

Last Tuesday, high-level Russian-American talks were held in Riyadh, and the Russian delegation was represented in the talks by Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and Russian Presidential Assistant Yuri Ushakov, while the American side was represented by US Presidential Assistant for National Security Affairs Mike Waltz, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and US Special Envoy to the Middle East Steve Witkoff.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov announced that the two parties agreed to create conditions for the full resumption of cooperation between the Russian Federation and the United States of America, and to expand it to new areas of common interest.
