Sana'a - Saba:
The General Authority of Civil Aviation and Meteorology announced its complete rejection of the attempt to hand over the management of Socotra International Airport to the Emirati "Eastern Triangle" Company, considering this a violation of national sovereignty and a squandering of the rights of Yemenis.
The Authority based its rejection on Articles (32) and (34) of the Yemeni Civil Aviation Law, which prohibits any external interference in the management of airports. It stressed that the airport is currently managed by qualified Yemeni competencies according to international standards, and there is no need for external supervision.
The Authority denounced attempts to change the identity of the airport and marginalize its national cadres under illegal pretexts, noting that these steps reflect a state of dependence on external forces.
It also warned of the serious consequences of these measures on Yemen's sovereignty, stressing its solidarity with airport employees in rejecting any external interference, and praised the national positions rejecting such suspicious movements in Socotra.
