Russia increased fertilizer supplies to the United States to the maximum in January, since May of last year, according to an analysis by Sputnik Agency of data issued by the US Census Bureau.
At the beginning of the year, companies from the United States increased their purchases of domestic fertilizers by 20% year-on-year, amounting to $85.5 million.
Imports of nitrogen fertilizers mainly increased by a quarter to reach $66.4 million.
Purchases of potassium fertilizers also witnessed a slight increase of about 5% to reach $18.5 million in January.
According to the data, the United States almost did not accept purchasing mixed fertilizers - they were purchased for only $613 thousand compared to $568 thousand the previous year.
Despite the annual increase in supplies, Russia fell to third place among the main suppliers of fertilizers to the United States.
Saudi Arabia moved into second place, with exports increasing during the year by 3.5 times - to $ 114.3 million, and Canada remained the leader in supplies with $ 316.3 million, up 17% from the previous year.
