US President Donald Trump revealed on Friday that he had a phone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin, indicating that there is a great opportunity to resolve the situation in Ukraine.

Trump wrote on his Truth Social page: "We had a very good and productive discussion with Russian President Vladimir Putin yesterday," stressing that there is a very good chance to finally end the conflict.

Trump said he asked the Russian president to "save the lives of the Ukrainian military who are completely trapped" in Kursk Oblast.

Trump indicated that he "sees a good chance to end the Ukrainian conflict," according to the Russian Sputnik news agency.

US President Donald Trump announced on Tuesday that he would speak with Russian President Vladimir Putin in the coming days, after Kyiv announced its acceptance of a US proposal for a 30-day ceasefire in Ukraine.
