Hajjah - Saba:

During the first half of 1446 AH, the Hajjah Governorate Health and Environment Office implemented a package of projects to improve the level of health services provided to citizens.

The office is committed to completing the implementation of 1445 AH projects and expanding the scope of services by implementing activities and projects in remote areas. It has focused on implementing projects in accordance with the plans of the Ministry of Health and Environment and local authorities to meet the needs of health facilities, ensuring the development of services and enhancing the performance of the health sector.

Efforts culminated in the completion and implementation of 30 projects across more than 100 health facilities in the governorate's center and districts. These projects ranged from infrastructure projects to the provision of medical equipment and supplies, solar energy systems, and furniture, worth more than $3,127,000, in addition to 226 million riyals.

The Health Department, in coordination with humanitarian partners, has also implemented expansion projects for a number of health facilities, including maintenance, rehabilitation, and restoration work, and prepared studies to supply a number of facilities with priority needs.

A report issued by the Health and Environment Office in the governorate, received by the Yemeni News Agency (Saba), stated that during the first half of the year 1446 AH, the construction of the second floor of the Epidemiological Surveillance Center in the governorate center was completed at a cost of $24,000, and the construction of the second floor to expand the health center in Al-Sa’il in the governorate center was completed at a cost of $28,500, in addition to the construction of annexes to the same center at a total of $32,000.

He pointed out that the second floor of the health center in Bani Al-Shamakh in Al-Muftah District has been built, with the rehabilitation and restoration of the first floor underway at a cost of $70,865. He also pointed out that the second floor of the health center in Al-Masajid in the same district has been built and rehabilitated at a cost of $13,500.

According to the report, the second floor of the inpatient clinics in Al-Mahabisha was completed at a cost of 200 million riyals, the emergency obstetric unit was built at the health center in Ahem at a cost of 25 thousand dollars, and the emergency obstetric center was built at the Al-Rabou’ Center in Washha at a cost of 95 thousand dollars.

The completed projects included the construction of a health unit in Jabal Al-Adabaa in Mabin at a cost of 20 million riyals, the construction of a radiology department at the health center in Matula in Abbs at a cost of 6 million riyals, and the completion of the construction and rehabilitation of the Red Crescent emergency center in Abbs at a cost of 192 thousand dollars.

The report noted that during the first half of this year, renovations were carried out on the Al-Rubu' Center, the Labada, Al-Bataria, and Al-Haija units, the Abs Hospital in the Abs District, and the health unit in Bani Ashb in Kahlan Afar, at a cost of $92,000.

Among the important projects that have been initiated is the rehabilitation of the Maternity and Childhood Hospital in Abbs District, at a cost of $875,400.

The report indicated the implementation of a project to dig a water well and maintain the sewage system for the Martyr Yasser Wathab Hospital in Khairan Al-Muharraq at a cost of $82,500, as well as the implementation of a project to level the road and gate of the Martyr Al-Kahlani Hospital in Mubeen, and the road to the Kahlan Al-Sharaf Hospital with the warehouse pavement, in addition to rehabilitating the water network in Aslam Hospital at a cost of $15,000.

He stated that the emergency and operations departments at Al-Mahabisha Hospital, the warehouses at Al-Shahel Hospital, and epoxy coating were installed for operations and intensive care at Martyr Yasser Wathab Hospital in Khairan Al-Muharraq at a cost of $32,000.

He also stated that the water and sewage network was rehabilitated and ground tanks were installed for 12 facilities, including Kaidna Hospital, Al-Shana, Al-Maasara, Al-Hazzaheez, Bani Al-Raboui, Bani Amer, Bani Subaih, Al-Naid, Al-Hamariyan, and the centers of Rubu’ Mutawala and Aflah Al-Sham, at a cost of $112,000.

The report confirmed the completion of the installation of solar energy systems for the dialysis center in Abs, and the centers of Raqi in Mustaba, Al-Jawana and Jiyah in Aflah Al-Yaman, Al-Aksha in Budhra, Al-Rubu in Washha, Kubri Shars, Bani Omar in Kushar, Al-Qaeda in Al-Shahel, and Khawlan in the Hajjah countryside, and the road emergency in Kahlan Afar, and the complexes in Qara and Fas in Bakil Al-Mir, Aflah Al-Sham, and Al-Thuluth Hospital in Aslam at a cost of $875,000.

During the first half of this year, the Abbs dialysis center was completed to alleviate the suffering of kidney failure patients in the districts of Tihama Square and neighboring districts. A dialysis station was supplied and installed, along with water cooling equipment and a desalination plant, at a cost of $137,000.

The report indicated that an electric elevator was supplied and installed for Abbs General Hospital at a cost of $110,000, a refrigerator for medicine was supplied and installed at the hospital at a cost of $110,000, equipment and furniture were provided for the Al-Rubu Center in Washah at a cost of $25,000, and air conditioners were installed for the obstetric emergency department at Al-Mahbasha Hospital at a cost of $8,000.

The projects included the supply and installation of solar-powered air conditioners for 23 health facilities in the districts of Abs, Mustaba, Bani Qais and Al Shaghadrah at a cost of $53,000, as well as the supply and installation of six refrigerators in the Al Sarha Centre in Bakil Al Meer, the Gharib Atbah units in Khairan Al Muharraq, Al Dhaybah in Mabin, Bani Rashid in Washha, Numan in Kahlan Afar and Al Raqi Centre in Mustaba District.

The report stated that six CBC devices were supplied and installed. For foot centers in Najra and Bani Al Awam and Saadan in Al Shahl and Al Khatwa in Al Jamima and Al Maghriba and Qima Musawwar in Qara.

In this context, the Director of the Governorate's Health and Environment Office, Dr. Ahmed Al-Kahlani, explained that these projects are part of development plans to advance the health sector.

He pointed out that studies have been prepared to supply and install solar energy systems for the diarrhoea treatment and recovery centres in Al-Juma, Al-Sharqi, Riyadh Mabtah, Al-Hakamiyyah, Qadam, Deir Al-Hassi, and the fluids and drug stores at the Health Office.

He pointed out that studies have been prepared to build ground and tower tanks in health centres in Al-Maghriba, Bani Al-Awam and Al-Rubu in Washha, and the hospitals of Al-Mahabisha, Al-Shaghadra, Kahlan Al-Sharaf, Yasser and Thabit in Khairan Al-Muharraq, Kaidna and Qafl Shammar, with funding from UNOPS.

Among the studies completed, according to Dr. Al-Kahlani, are the construction of extensions to the health center in Khawlan, rural Hajjah, at a cost of $130,000, and the restoration of seven health facilities in rural Hajjah, Bani Al-Awam, and Najrah, at a cost of $95,000, with support from humanitarian partners.

He commended the Ministry of Health and Environment's and the local authorities' commitment to overcoming the difficulties facing the workflow, ensuring the development of medical services. He also praised the support provided by the Central Emergency Development Interventions Unit, humanitarian partners, and the Red Crescent in this regard.
