The Argentine national team received a major blow ahead of the Uruguay and Brazil matches in the South American qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup, after it was announced that Lautaro Martinez will be absent due to injury.
The Tango will play two high-caliber matches, as they host Uruguay the day after Saturday, before hosting Brazil four days later.
Martinez became the second major absence for Argentina after captain Lionel Messi was also confirmed to be out due to injury.
Argentina leads the South American qualifiers with 25 points, five points ahead of second-placed Uruguay.
