Palestine Center for Prisoners' Studies: Israeli forces assassinated 30 released prisoners in Shalit deal

Gaza – Saba:

The Palestine Center for Prisoners' Studies confirmed on Tuesday that Israeli enemy forces assassinated 30 released prisoners who were released as part of Wafa al-Ahrar deal (Shalit deal) in 2011.

Most of them were residents of the West Bank and al-Quds who were deported to the Gaza Strip, in addition to one released prisoner from Gaza.

The center explained in a statement that the majority of the released prisoners were martyred along with their families, including children and women, as a result of Israeli shelling of the displacement camps where they had sought refuge in the Gaza Strip.

It indicated that these operations were motivated by the "Malice and hatred" the occupation harbors for those it was forced to release.

The center noted that among the martyrs were six released Palestinians from al-Quds, representing 40% of the total number of 15 released Palestinians from al-Quds deported to Gaza.

Another 24 martyrs were from the West Bank, representing 16% of the 148 released Palestinians from the West Bank who were deported to Gaza as part of the deal.

The center emphasized that the assassination of the released Palestinians comes within the context of the war of extermination waged by the occupation against the Gaza Strip and constitutes the implementation of previous threats issued by "Israeli" leaders to target those released in the deal, claiming that they have returned to resistance against the occupation.

The center emphasized that the occupation authorities committed a systematic execution crime against the released Palestinians, noting that the assassinations reflect a retaliatory policy aimed at settling scores with those who carried out painful resistance operations against the occupation before their arrest.
