The Russian Ministry of Defense announced on Monday that crews of Russian Ka-52M, Mi-28NM, and Mi-8 helicopters launched an attack on Ukrainian forces' bunkers in the Kursk Oblast, Russia.
Sputnik quoted the ministry as saying in a statement: "A group of Russian Aerospace Forces military aviation, including a Ka-52M reconnaissance and attack helicopter, a Mi-28NM attack helicopter, and a Mi-8PSG multi-purpose helicopter, destroyed manned and military equipment of the Ukrainian forces in the border area of Kursk Oblast."
The statement added that "during the combat mission, the helicopter crews fired S-8 air-to-air missiles at specific coordinates."
A member of the Mi-8PSG helicopter crew said, "We conducted combat sorties in the designated direction. My mission was to escort the attack helicopters to the point of attack. Today, enemy personnel bunkers and military equipment were destroyed."
The Russian Ministry of Defense indicated that the crews performed an anti-missile maneuver using the air defense system and successfully returned to the launch airport.
