Amsterdam - Saba:
The Dutch government on Monday announced tighter restrictions on the export of all military products and dual-use goods destined for Israel.
The government said in a letter to parliament that all direct exports and transit products to Israel must be checked for compliance with European regulations.
The government confirmed that exports will no longer take place under general export licenses.
Foreign Minister Kaspar Veldkamp and Trade Minister Renate Cleaver said: "The desire to implement this is due to the security situation in Israel, the Palestinian territories and the region as a whole."
The government confirmed that no military products have been exported to Israel from the Netherlands under a general license since Israel began its war on Gaza on October 7, 2023.
It explained that the general license for the export of low-risk information security products, such as network security routers, has been used repeatedly for exports to Israel.
It estimates that between 50 and 100 licenses will now have to be requested to export these products individually.
