UN Secretary-General António Guterres has rejected a new Israeli plan to control aid to the Gaza Strip, considering that "the new authorization mechanisms for aid delivery proposed by Israel could lead to severe restrictions on aid."

Guterres said in a statement on Tuesday that "by closing the door to aid, the door to tragedy has been reopened in Gaza. More than a month has passed without a single drop of aid reaching Gaza, and the UN's ability to deliver aid in Gaza is constrained."

He emphasized, "We will not participate in any aid arrangement that does not respect the principles of humanity, integrity, independence, and neutrality."

Guterres added, "No food, fuel, medicine, or commercial supplies have entered Gaza for more than a month. Gaza today is a killing field, and civilians are living in an endless cycle of death."

He said, "Israel is not fulfilling its clear obligations as an occupying power under international law."
