Ukrainian delegation hold talks on metals deal under tougher U.S. conditions
[Fri, 11 Apr 2025 23:45:11 +0300]

Washington - Saba:
The New York Times reported on Friday that a Ukrainian delegation arrived in Washington for a new round of negotiations on the US deal for Ukrainian minerals.

Ukrainian officials told the newspaper that the talks will last for two days , will be of a technical nature, and no high-level officials are expected to attend. The Ukrainian delegation will be led by Deputy Economy Minister Taras Kachka, and the delegation also includes representatives of the Ukrainian Ministry of Justice.

The United States will receive all profits from the fund until Ukraine repays all the aid it received during the conflict plus four percent annual interest, and Washington will retain the right of first offer on new projects and the right to veto the sale of Ukrainian resources to third countries.

It is noteworthy that the signing of the minerals deal stalled in late February, after US President Donald Trump scolded Kiev regime President Vladimir Zelensky for disrespecting his host in the Oval Office of the White House, insisting on interrupting Trump and his Vice President J.D. Vance, arguing with them in front of the media and trying to impose his political agenda, and threatening Americans that they will feel the effects of the Ukrainian conflict despite being "overseas," which turned into a verbal altercation, after which Zelensky and his delegation were expelled from the White House.
